The Lewisham Club Championships began in 1946, won by William Skillicorn.

The trophy, built by former member Ken Smith, is an engraved chess board, detailing winners since 1966-90.  It appears that it was then mislaid for a number of years before being recovered.  Club minutes providing the previous winners.

Around 2000 the club championship was disbanded in favour of a summer competition for the clubs lower rated players.

It was resurrected in 2014, with the 2023 edition attracting 22 members.
