Play chess in the Kent and Croydon Leagues

 

Lewisham Chess Club is open throughout the year on Wednesdays (with exception of Christmas and New Year), and is the venue for our Kent and Croydon League home matches, 

Play chess in the London League

 

We have three teams in the Open Format Divisions, all playing their home matches at Brokers Wine Bar & Restaurant (close to London Liverpool Street and London Cannon Street Stations) on Tuesday evenings.

We also have a team in the London Women's League, with 4-board matches taking place in Zone 1.

Play chess in the Central London League

 

We have one team playing,  (close to Pimlico Underground) on Thursday evenings.

Play friendly chess and in internal club competitions

 

Our club nights are free to attend, with no board fees charged if casual friendly chess is your thing. But you may be tempted to join in on our internal events such as Blitz tournaments, Team Blitz and Chess Talks which are run regularly throughout the year, alongside two Club Championships, one of which is our annual Ted Mason Trophy which is a handicapped quickplay tournament .

If you would like to play League Chess or to participate in Club Championships you must become a member of the Club.

Membership also entitles you to access our range of chess multimedia and literature that are available to loan on 2 month basis for £1.  Our full catalogue is available upon request. 

 

Membership Fees (2024/25)

£65 Waged Adults

£45 Unwaged Adults

£15 Under 18s *

Additionally we require all members intending to play in league matches join the English Chess Federation (1 year membership starting at £20 adults / £6  juniors - first year free)

​

Out of our club membership fees, £40 is paid to the Catford Cricket Club for use of the venue, with additional monies used for the upkeep of equipment and to payment to the Kent, Croydon and London Leagues, who are registered for the ECF Game Fee.
