Lewisham v Beckenham Inaugural Trophy Match

19th September, 2019

Lewisham held sway over a relatively inexperienced Beckenham team and even with the addition of 3 Lewisham players guesting for Beckenham Lewisham ran out comfortable 10.5-2.5 winners . A sterner test awaits us when we face Beckenham & Charlton 1 in our upcoming London League fixture

Summer Chess League

10th August, 2019

Now in it's 3rd Season, the collaboration between Battersea and Hammersmith Chess Clubs to provide Summer chess in a fun and relaxed atmosphere can definitely be regarded as a roaring success. This season sees 30 teams of 4 players compete over 3 ten-team Divisions.

Lewisham entered a team in Division 2 and for a good portion of the campaign we were very much in contention to win the Division until Round 5 when we took on Division leaders East London Knights. A shock reverse on Bd 1 saw Madara lose to an opponent 30+ points lower than her which handed a 2.5-1.5 win to ELK to consolidate their No 1 position. A further defeat in Round 6 v The Dogs Of Battersea finally ended any faint ambitions we had remaining.

With two Rounds left to play we will push hard for 2nd place.

Club Championship 2019

The Club Championship is being contested over 4 rounds this summer and is in full swing.  Mark Robertson, Mike Roberts and Tony Foreman have 100% records going into Round 3, with Tony also frontrunner for the grading prize (<145 ECF).

Lewisham Team Blitz 2019

29th September, 2019

Unfortunately down on numbers, only six teams contested the 3rd Annual Lewisham Team Blitz Tournament this year. However, the teams who did take part seemed to enjoy the night, if not the runaway victory by the Kingslayers team of Madara, Jude, Cem and Max. 2nd-placed Sidcup Warriors finished 8.5 points behind. Player of the Tournament was undoubtedly Max John who finished with a remarkable 10/10. Cem wasn't far behind with an outstanding 9/10 (8 wins and 2 draws). Kingslayers took the Team prize of £54 and Max took the Player prize of £18. Many Thanks to all who participated and we'll see you in the early part of September next year.
